Many Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 owners will have noticed this new “Get Windows 10” icon today and will appear over the next few weeks on their PCs:
Microsoft have confirmed that their new operating system will be available for a FREE Download on 29th July 2015 (earlier than the expected Autumn date). If you own Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, you are entitled to the FREE download during the next year, after that, you will have to purchase Windows 10.
Click the Get Windows 10 icon, you can then reserve a copy by entering your email address into this screen:
You will then be notified when Windows 10 is available, and can pick a time to install it.
JPC would advise that all your Microsoft updates are installed to get to these stages. It is worthwhile to note that there will be a surge in demand on the day, that there could be potential problems downloading or installing. It may be a good idea to wait a few weeks before installing so that any potential problems are ironed out.
Please make sure that all your important data is backed up before attempting any of the above. JPC cannot take any responsibility for loss of data if attempting the Windows 10 upgrade.
